ParkingEye insisting on payment despite parking charge being paid

  • I have contacted LVVP who confirm that I did attend a track session that day, which meant (of course) that I paid for it, which payment included 4 hours free parking.  They don't, AFAIK, intercede with ParkingEye on customers' behalf.

Interesting, thanks for that.  Perhaps I should speak to LVVP on that basis.

Yes you really should be doing that.

I have no idea whether this is the only track you could use, but you need to be reminding LVVP that if each visit comes with a £100 surcharge then you and your friends will certainly be thinking hard about whether to continue to use their facilities.

I wouldn't need to think hard about this at all.
If I paid a company, the principle, then got another charge from an unregulated third party, I would be complaining and requesting an immediate cancellation of the parking charge.
If that was not forthcoming I would send the principle copies of my payments/receipts, cancel any membership if I had one, and point out that this is how much money they are going to lose because I will never be coming back, and I will make sure all my friends and family are aware, as well as warning other customers via social media.

Landowners need to understand and take responsibility for the actions of their contractors, and the damage it is doing to their income and reputation.

  • It is indeed the only velodrome local to me, and I am not going to upset them!  However (and thank you) all I shall indeed be pointing out their responsibility.

A judge is very likely to take a different view.  If you paid for parking he/she is likely to say that little else matters.  Have you complained to your MP?
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • Further to the point about principals being responsible for their agents' actions, part of my correspondence with the LVVP says "unfortunately due to GDPR regulations ParkingEye cannot discuss the matter directly with the venue".  The two points seem directly contradictory.  I wonder if the GDPR thing is just a smokescreen?

GDPR is about the handling of personal data. If you have asked LVVP to intervene on your behalf, you are giving LVVP tacit agreement to pass your data to ParkingEye. There is no reason why ParkingEye cannot then discuss you, the data subject, or your data, with the principal, LVVP.

    It is a smokescreen.

PPCs are utterly desperate to put people off complaining to landowners.
