Initial Parking fine - St Michael's mount Marazion Parking

Hi!
I went to Cornwall about a week ago and got an unexpected PCN for staying for about an hour on a parking close to St Michael's mount. It was quite busy and we didn't have any coins, nor wanted to download the app. After having to wait for the queue, we took our chances and went to the sand, just to regret it and move the car from that parking lot. Obviously, little idea we had that we were being watched by cameras!
Anyway, I think the charge is quite unfair and they should be able to be a bit more flexible there. We are not paying £60 or £100 for 30 mins of parking, as that's pretty abusive and I'm guessing it's the source of income of these kind of companies.
I've sent Initial Parking the blue letter on the Newbies thread and now I'm planning to appeal to Poppla, but I'm getting a bit lost in the process and some thoughts started to strike me about "is this worth £60?". I know the answer is YES, as we all want these abusers to stop doing this kind of stuff and keep people feeling like !!!!!! afterwards. I'm sure the lack of payment methods is just to promote these situations from happening!
In any case, I'm selling the car within a month and leaving the country for work reasons, so I'm not paying that for sure. I'm 99% sure the new owner of my car won't be pursued by this.. (right?).
What do you guys think about this situation? Happy to add some info from the ticket. I'm trying to look for Poppla appeals that fit my case, but it's proving a bit harder than I thought!

Anyway, I think the charge is quite unfair Several Supreme Court judges disagree. I'm trying to look for Poppla appeals that fit my case, but it's proving a bit harder than I thought! Surely there must be hundreds. Nearly all the circumstance are the same. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

If you did not agree to paying or downloading the app, move on and find another car park. There is usually a 10 minute grace period - not 30 mins.If the world is a stage... I want better lighting!3 -
I tend to agree, why on earth just leave the car and why don't people realise that 85% of private parking firms use ANPR these days? What did you think would happen, that you could just drive past the cameras and not get a PCN by post?
I am not seeing a defence.
But, please stick around and get friends and family to do the Government consultation due out soon:
The first consultation result reduced the cap to £50 (£25 of paid early) for most alleged breaches:

second consultation due in a few weeks, about the level of charges and (presumably) where the levels will apply:
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-to-open-technical-consultation-on-fairer-parking-charges
Please come back to do that new consultation, whatever you decide! You can make the difference to ensure that the £50/£25 proposed by Government is enacted.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hey guys, thanks for the messages. Based on them, I decided to just pay the fine. I still think it's disproportionate and probably their way of making money, but it's nice to see the gov is doing something about it. What I'm not going to allow is the future buyer of my car pay (with stress mainly) for an error that I've made.
I didn't know the car was being watched.. But well, they won this time I guess!0 -
It is not a fine. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Please, please, do come back and do the Government’s vital (probably final) consultation before they finalise policy about the level of private parking charges. Don’t just post and run, we need real victims like you to do the public consultation when it comes out in a few weeks.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
