In my case, the speeds differences were as follows, starting with the slowest (measured at modem, and with consideration to latency): BT, Sky, TalkTalk.
It boils down to what is important to you.
1) Customer service - not a huge difference between them. All as bad as each other. If this is important to you, look at Zen, but you'll pay for it.
2) Router Quality (if you plan to use it) starting with the worst, Sky, BT & TalkTalk joint. Sky Q router is shocking. They have a new one, but not sure if they offer that as standard on all packages yet.
3) Value, starting with the worst, BT, Sky, TalkTalk
4) Reliability. All the same for me. Most issues I see are around people allowing there routers to be managed by the ISP. Poor channel selection and using the ISPs DNS servers.
5) Prospect of getting a good retention deal after your initial contract lapses, (starting with least likely) BT, Sky, TalkTalk.
All things considered, for the difference between them, I'd go for whichever offers the best deal.
Again if you want the best all round, I'd suggest Zen, and use your own router or Mesh system where possible. My farts hospitalize small children1 -
