Can you only use virgin media broadband, if you have a virgin media telephone line. If not, what broadband service provider can you use?

Yes you can only use Virgin Media broadband on a Virgin Media line. If you wish to use another broadband provider then you'll need a different telephone line (BT or another competitor)

if you are with virgin media in a cabled area then you can either take their cable modem service which imho is the best broadband service in the country or you can get a bt phone line and whatever asdl service you want.

frankly i dont see why you wouldnt want the cable service, im house hunting and one of the key factors in where i will move is if i can get it, its that much better than adsl.
  • As it is the 2nd year, it will cost £18 a month for 2mb speed

Their are two sorts of Virgin Media Broadband.

Cable Broadband. Which you dont need a cable phone line to use but you must be in a cable area to get it

Or Non Cable (Ex Virgin Net) where you need a BT Line.
  • Ok, so if there are any alternatives to Virgin Media's broadband, what are they?
