Bought house in November - land registry still has old owner down.

I checked land registery a couple of days as as i needed proof of ownership. It still has the last owner down. I've contacted my solicitors(who were useless and slow going through the process) and they've responded with its taking a little longer than usual due to covid. I asked how long its been taking and they wouldn't put a number to it. Everywhere i read says 6 weeks is "longest" to transfer titles. Can't find any compaints from others similar to mine either.
Is it taking 8 months+ due to covid or has the solicitors messed up again?

Taking a step back, you can "prove ownership" by methods other than a completed registered title. You owned it from the completion date.0

We moved at the end of September, only got the amended title docs through about a month ago. They are taking a lot longer at the moment, probably a combination of covid and the property boom.1

I moved at end of March, and my solicitor is saying we will wait up to 12 months for a first registration.1
