Scottish Power ending Yorkshire Fixed price deals early
I was a Yorkshire energy customer on a fixed rate deal ending 30/9/21.
The contract was taken over by Scottish Power who have now informed me that they are unilaterally ending the contract on 1/7/21 and switching me to their standard tarrif.
I did have a web chat with them and they stated that due to the rise in wholesale energy prices they were breaking the contract and offered me a new fixed rate contract as per their latest online deals. When I asked them why I should trust them with a fixed price contract as they had refused to honour the current one they declined to answer.
If they had said when they took over the contract from Yorkshire energy that they may cancel the contract early I would have moved supplier then, but instead they didn't diclose and now at a time I assume that they judge to be beneficial to them they have decided to cancel the contract.
In effect through their deception they led me to beleive that my prices would still be fixed until 30/9/21. Had I known that they were going to end the contract at a time of their choosing I would have made different decisions.
I will be taking this up with Ofgem.

Scottish Power don't have to honour Yorkshire energy fixed price contracts unless they have told you they will. You are put on a deemed tariff and can move if you want.0

OP,that's just what to do,after following the Scottish Power complaints process.
After that,or even better now do a comparison and switch.
As noted above Scottish Power aren't obligated to provide your energy on the same basis as Yorkshire Energy were, and they never have been.0 -
Weren't SP only obliged to keep the Energy Exclusive (which all ex-YE customers put on to) for around 6 months anyway? If so, it's about that-ish now, so no surprise it's ending.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

It looks like all were put on a SP deemed tariff.
With letters sent explaining individual tariff info at the time?

This is part of what was sent stating the tariff details per area : https://web-content.scottishpower.co.uk/files/pdf/solr/Energy-Exclusive-Pricing-Leaflet-Dec20.pdf.0 -
The deemed tariff should last 6 months as per Ofgem rules. It has always been described as a variable tariff. One person reported being told by customer services that it would last for 12 months, but that seems to have been a mistake. Anyone who has evidence they were misinformed may have a complaint, but none of the official communications from SP were misleading. You might be interested in the last few posts in this thread, where the tariff change is discussed: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6220161/yorkshire-energy0
