Energy Club's 'no exit fee' option does not work for PFP contracts

For several years I have used the Energy Club to to either find a good
price or do the switch. Difficulties were rare until I tried PFP's
'Fixed - May 2022 - Green v1' a short while ago.
The first problem was that PFP refused to honour their energy holiday promise and so I left after less than two months but PFP are now threatening to charge a £30 exit fee. An email from them says: "Please remember that if you wish to continue with your switch and you are currently on a fixed-term tariff and not in the last 49 days of your contract, an exit fee of £30 per fuel will apply and will be added to your final account balance."
They were selected via the Energy Club with the 'No Early Exit Fee' box ticked. I examined PFP's earlier communications to see how they could do this and found the exit fee in an unrelated 'Cooling-off' note in their welcome letter.
I am resigned to not getting the promised energy holiday and am prepared to pay slightly more for fuel to distance myself from a company which fails to deliver what it promises.
I wish I could find a way not to pay this exit fee.

PfP was just recommended by the cheap energy club to me so I did a check on how much per month it would cost me. I pay Avro £48 per month and PfP wanted around £76 per month for a two bedroom flat so I didn't take up the cheap energy club offer as my monthly usage is around £40 and I have a credit of £82 with Avro. When the energy club gives me a cheaper alternative I always get a quote from the provider and the two I have had are dearer on the prices per Kwh and daily charge.Someone please tell me what money is0

Lesson to be learned here is that the MSE CEC,which I'm assuming is what's being discussed is not fit for purpose and shouldn't be used.
Though if as stated the no exit fee box was chosen then that supplier and tariff should've never been shown.
Also read the small print,always.
