I think you’re over-complicating it. Agree with the others saying just pay the removers for their packing service. They come in the day before the move and pack everything for you, then come back the next morning and load up. You just have to stay out of their way and periodically make a round of tea. (A laptop for watching Netflix on a bed works well)
Clean the house before they pack and just do a very quick dust and hoover where furniture was as rooms become empty.3 -
I think my habits come from the days of renting where you need to leave the property spotless. Personally I can only clean the property properly when everything is out - under beds, behind wardrobes , carpets, the hugest cobwebs imaginable! I wanted the new place clean as well before I put my wardrobes in etc, so, although more expensive, I find it less stressful. Not everyone's cup of tea though.

Thanks for all your comments. I will get a quote for the removal company to pack too.0

You could even pay a cleaner for the same price as a B&B to do the old house or the new or both.Removal men are used to waiting around for keys, its part of the job1

Weathergirl_76 said:Thank for your comments. I will get a quote for both options. My main concern is that the agent for my purchase understandably won’t release keys until funds have cleared. Last time, this hadn’t happened prior to lunchtime, and I remember sitting in the car for a couple of hours because the funds hadn’t arrived. The removal men were sitting outside my new property unable to get in.
No real benefit in a B&B the day before, as packing / van loading early in the morning is the bit you can control.
If anything, I'd spluge on a cleaner - once your van's loaded up, they can clean your house while you focus on getting keys and being ready at the new place. Then depending on the time, they can clean your purchase before you start unloading and you're free to direct where everything goes.1
