Apps on home screen
I have a Moto G8 Plus, and I seem to have lost the ability to remove the app shortcuts from the home screen, only to uninstall them. I suspect it's a setting somewhere or something has been changed in a security update, but I don't even know where to start looking.
Can some of you techies help?
TIA
David.

Assuming this is Android you can just hold the icon and then a bin should appear somewhere. Drag it to that.

Usually you hold your finger on the icon and slide it to the right, the pages flip and you let go when it's in the desired position. Is this what doesn't work for you..?Evolution, not revolution0

HmmMaybe just set up a 'rubbish' folder on the rightmost screen and put them in there???
But, they just want to remove the shortcut, not delete the appNeil_Jones said:Assuming this is Android you can just hold the icon and then a bin should appear somewhere. Drag it to that.

It depends on the system or launcher being used. On my phone (Samsung) if you press and hold an icon a menu pops up and you get uninstall and delete options on the default launcher. I use Nova, however, and with that pressing and holding an icon gives a similar menu popup with a bin to uninstall and an ‘X’ to delete the icon. An ‘X’ also appears at the top of the screen and dragging the icon to that deletes the icon, it doesn’t uninstall it. It depends on how the Moto launcher works but there should be a delete icon option on pressing and holding, unless something has changed as the OP says.J_B said:

The word "REMOVE" appears at the top, drag it there1 -
Thanks folks, sorted now. It seems that the way I was holding the phone my hand was blocking the options at the top of the screen.
