Thanks, by the way, do they change engine oil and filter when they do the cambelt changing?forgotmyname said:Unless the battery is in the way of the belt then why would they disconnect that? If i changed your battery you would not lose any radio settings either
because I use a sma;; pack to keep power to the system. No need to remove the battery for a belt change. As mentioned if you think the belt has not been changed just take the cover off.A part should be wet? What part? Once you have done a few belts on the same cars you get to know little shortcuts like
just moving the fuel pipes upwards instead of unplugging them. I was doing one for a friend of a friend and by the time
he had looked for the locking wheel key and made a cuppa I had the wheel off and the belt covers.0 -

I've watched the 7 min video and looked at all your photos but not a single one of them shows the timing belt so it proves nothing so whip the timing belt cover off and have a look for yourself.
It is a bit late moaning about £1200 after you agreed to it, should have stopped there and then. You haven't said exactly what engine it is but guessing the PSA 1.8 with a wet belt, but that shouldn't cost £1200.
Long term advice is getting in with a nice family run local independent garage that you can trust. I've been taking my cars to the same garage now for nearly 20 years, everyone that work there is family and knows me and I never have any doubts that they do exactly what I ask them to do.0 -
There's no need to so no, unless you asked them to or the whole thing is being done as a major service which includes changing the timing belt.cherry2017 said:

That's clever; how did you remove the wheel without the locking wheel key?forgotmyname said:

if it is a wet belt engine the oil should be changed because you have to change some oil seals on the covers

You are supposed to disconnect the battery to stop someone trying to start the engine while you are changing the belt. I do it because I am married and know that anything is possible.0

just take the key out of the car

She has her own key. She drove off with my Ctek charger connected. That didn't end well. "I wondered what that wire was there for".0

Why would your wife try to start a car you are changing the timing belt on? Doesn't make any sense. Wouldn't she see the bonnet up and you working? Don't you talk to each other?fred246 said:She has her own key. She drove off with my Ctek charger connected. That didn't end well. "I wondered what that wire was there for".1 -
If you read the instructions for cambelt changes you are supposed to disconnect the battery. My Sealey cambelt kit also has a notice to put on the steering wheel. It's unlikely anyone would try and start the engine but I can disconnect my battery very quickly and the stereo code is in my head so it's not a problem.0
