Mobiles in January sales?

I need a new phone but hate buying anything for myself in the run-up to Christmas - it just doesn't feel right from a money-saving point of view! So my question is basically whether I should wait until the January sales to buy the phone. Do mobile phone shops / networks discount much after the festive season?

We do at Vodafone. I remember our boxing day sales well as I did the pricing up last year ugh took me hours to do on Christmas eve. I think it's the only time of year that we really cut our prices on all old stock and even some new and advertise it in the windows.
