Amazon closed my account, what is my next steps?

How does the proof of return prove they sent the right item back? Lets say hypothetically the OP ordered a 2gb external drive and Amazon has received back a 1gb external drive from the same make/mode/colour?  The courier tracking will only show something went back not if it had a 1gb or 2gb capacity.

Proof of postage or proof of delivery only ever proves that a package of a certain weight was accepted by the carrier and delivered to the correct address. Ultimately, as any resulting dispute is normally only a civil matter and is decided on the balance of probabilities, it is simply one piece of evidence that may (or may not) tip the case in your favour.
