Car dealership sold the car with service but won't supply evidence

Hi,
I brought a car back in Oct 2020, we were told it had been serviced by them (I have correspondence confirming this). A few weeks later I queried why it hadn't been updated on the car, as I had a message come up on the car computer saying service needed. We took it back to them and they said it had been serviced and plugged the car in and changed the message on the system. They have not responded since I have asked about it not been on the landrover system as been serviced.
Now we have got to make a warranty claim and they are asking to provide the last service information, so I have asked the company we brought the car from to supply us with that information, but they will not respond to me.
I have multiple messages where they confirmed it has and was been serviced by them.
I don't really know what else to do? I feel like we have been lied to and since questioning them repeatedly they are ignoring me.
Is there anything I can do?
Thank you.

Are they still in business? Have you gone to the dealership in person?
  • Hi, yes they are still in business. I rang them today actually and they said to message them instead but I haven't heard anything since messaging them.
Unfortunately not, I can't get there as the car is off the road now due to the 4 wheel drive haldex braking.
    Thank you for responding.

I'd find a way to get there in person.  It sounds like they're fobbing you off and unless you go there in person, they'll probably continue to do so.

Did you not get the book stamped?  The book being stamped is a key thing when making a warranty claim.

Just make a trip to the seller and ask them to stamp and date the book.

Only the main dealerships update the records to show it's had manufactures warranty, other garages just stamp the book but that doesn't mean main dealerships can void a warranty but it does mean they need evidence to show the services have been carried out.
  • It isn't a main dealer warranty, we took out independent warranty. Also with Landrover you don't get a service book, they use electronic service schedule.

I don't see any alternative but to get yourself there and ask them to update the electronic service schedule.  If an expensive warranty claim is riding on it it's worth paying a train/bus/taxi fare.

Yup but your warrenty company is asknig for proof.
An independant garage isnt going to be able to update the Landrover database regardless.(or can they?)
So they either require full dealer servicing or need to accept other proofs of servicing

My car doesn't have a service either as the service record is held electronically.
Although it was supplied by  a main dealer who could update the system   I was given   a service sheet showing the work done.
There are also the sheets for the previous dealer services in the paperwork.
