Out of interest, how can the machine clearly allocate particular notes to their depositor..? I would expect the innards to contain stacks of various denominations, perhaps possible to work out who deposited which but presumably a bit laborious...born_again said:
Given the ATM knows what was paid in, to what account. It will be very clear which notes belong to which deposit.eDicky said:An ATM that takes cash deposit will not discriminate, I'm not sure whether particular bills can be easily linked to the depositor (?).Evolution, not revolution0 -
Re paying in cash to an account - I often pay for a takeaway on my credit card. My partner gives me cash towards it. I have an account that I use to pay in cash. I pay the cash into my account at the post office. Much easier to use the post office than bank branch as their hours are much better and they have local branches. (My nearest post office in less than 5 mins walk whereas my banks are in town) No questions as to the amounts which vary when I pay it in.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

Unless you’re having the takeaways flown in by Lear Jet I wouldn’t expect the amounts you’re paying in to be significant.datlex said:Re paying in cash to an account - I often pay for a takeaway on my credit card. Not many people pay cash into a ATM. Thus it is easy to tally it up. Also as they are counted in, they will go into a nice stack, which when the receipt is checked will match them up. That's if they want too.eDicky said:

I doubt the machine separates out the by denomination - it’ll just stack them in the order they were paid in. Customer 1 paid in £50, which is the first 3 notes, etc.eDicky said:Out of interest, how can the machine clearly allocate particular notes to their depositor..?
