My bank allows cash deposits using the cash machine in the wall, does your bank allow this? Instead of taking cash out you make a deposit, it does not take coins and does limit each deposit to 30 notes but if I’ve more then I do two deposits. Been depositing hundreds of pounds a month for a while now and no questions.1

You say you 'tried' - does it mean that the cashier refused the Scottish notes, or just queried why you had them, or just made a remark..?Deleted User said:colsten said:I had small waiter job in Scottish Café then moved to London.I tried to deposit my tips into London bank but they seemed suspicious of my few Scottish notes. How deposit my tips into London bank without problems?
The huge stack of Scottish twenties in the article photo sent by Colsten, likely to be the proceeds of narcotics sales North of the border, illustrates why curiosity might be reasonably aroused in bank staff. When you explained the source of your Scottish bills, were they not satisfied..?
An ATM that takes cash deposit will not discriminate, I'm not sure whether particular bills can be easily linked to the depositor (?).Evolution, not revolution0 -

Given the ATM knows what was paid in, to what account. It will be very clear which notes belong to which deposit.eDicky said:An ATM that takes cash deposit will not discriminate, I'm not sure whether particular bills can be easily linked to the depositor (?).Life in the slow lane0 -
It is a regulatory requirement that all bank stuff undergo annual money laundering training so I would expect customer facing staff to be fully aware of anything that could potentially be money laundering. I’m not in a role that would ordinarily see individual transactions but I still have to pass the test each year.callum9999 said:
Is any customer facing person at the bank going to understand the money laundering mechanisms to that degree?Deleted_User said:Depositing lots of cash, irregular amounts and times is likely to flag all sorts of warnings about money laundering etc, I'd talk to the bank first0 -
It was a reference to Colsten's picture - I don't have millions in Scottish banknotes nor do I speak broken English (generally).eDicky said:

My mistake, I think I mistook you for the OP, of this thread or another...Deleted User said:

It might not help. I once went into the Bristol branch of a Scottish bank, I think Clydesdale, to change one of their fifties to English. Although Scottish notes don't generally become out of date in the same way Bank of England issues do, the staff had never seen one and had to look it up in a big book of Sterling notes to check it's validity..!Eco_Miser said:
