How to persuade a Credit Card Company to offer a BT deal

I've got a couple of cards that have balances on them that are attracting interest & others  which have a nil balance.
I'd like to transfer the balances but only if I could get a preferential rate but verbal attempts to get one have failed.
So how do I 'trick' the companies into offering me a good BT rate?

There no way’s to ‘trick’ them, you have to apply for a product that has a introductory offer, or have an offer given to you.

I’ve heard of barclaycard offering 0%  for 3 months to help you, but that was over 1 year ago.

    Doubt that is even possible.

Barclaycard has been the most reserved and unrewarding I’ve ever known them since pandemic hit.
If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

    Secured/Unsecured loans x 1
    Credit Cards x 8 (total limit £55,050)
Creation FS Retail Account x 1
    Creation Credit Sale 0% x 1 = £112.50pm x 20 mths
    0% Overdraft x 1 (£0 / £250)
    Mortgage Outstanding - £137,707.00 (Payment 13/360)
    Total Debt = £7,400 (0%APR) @ £100pm - Stoozing

Depends on how they rate you internally, I get BT and MT offers every month from them

They always used to, had a £16,300 limit and offers left right and centre then in August last year, cut the limit to £5,500 and not an offer in sight.

to be fair, don’t really use it!

Sometimes it's better to focus your efforts on matters over which you have control rather than those over which you have none. You aren't going to get remotely close to the decision makers.
  • Sorry I was being a bit flippant when I said trick!
I guess what I'm asking is is there anything I can do to prompt them into making me a BT offer ...some of the cards with a nil balance I've not used for a while so if I spent small amounts & then cleared the balance would that prompt them ?

Why would they offer you an interest free deal when they can just not and make more money?

If new providers won't offer you a deal, you're really circling the drain by faffing around with putting money on cards.  Jesus that stinks of desperation.

If you see the key words ‘over 1 year ago’.

There is no harm in simply ringing or using the online chat (if applicable) and asking them if they will consider an offer. Otherwise, apply somewhere else and see if you can get one
