Hi, bit confused and maybe reading too much now - I have a notice of Allocation to the Small Claims Track (preliminary hearing) approaching. Do I now prepare (use template available on here) the witness statement I have neglected to do sooner? I selected 'No' in the N180 for mediation and know to decline the option to "settle" on the day

Doesn't your Notice of Allocation say something like...
Each party must deliver to every other party and to the court office copies of all documents on which he intends to rely at the hearing no later than [ . . . ] [14 days before the hearing].
    Might be on the back.
Those documents you intend to rely on are your Witness Statement and evidence.

Hi @KeithP - No the first page states: 'Before the claim is listed for hearing, the judge has ordered that a preliminary hearing should take place :- special directions are needed in this claim to prepare for the final hearing which the judge would prefer to explain to you in person.' On the back it states about face coverings, no children, no witnesses, not to arrive earlier than 30 minutes before hearing and if represented by a solicitor, 'the solicitor must also file a hard bundle for use by the court at the hearing, 3 working days before the attended hearing.'

But you can't let their solicitors file a one-sided bundle that only contains their WS and evidence.  You must file and serve yours before that can happen.

Was there a previous Notice of Allocation with more general Directions along the lines shown by @KeithP?

No - this is the only letter received by the county court. I have less than 14 days but can prepare my WS and evidence ASAP and still submit? Although the letter has not asked me to, I did intend to turn up with everything (idiotically forgot about the submitting 14 days before).

Here's an idea !! A picture paints a thousand words ! So , why not stop drip feeding us information that leads to questions from us ( like the one from KeithP) and .....

Post redacted pictures of both sides of all the ( Redacted ) court orders from your local nominated court , so no names or addresses , no reference numbers or VRM details , no phone numbers , just the actual sentences and para with the orders , especially the NOA that came telling you about the details sent by your court a few months ago , plus this recent one about the short preliminary court hearing too
