That's great that it looks like you might be on your way to breaking the pattern, but can I add a plea? Please don't give her juice at bedtime/in bed, as this leads to tooth decay, and you don't want that happening at any age, but especially at such a young age

I actualy feel quite rotten! If it was'nt for the sake of having to take medication for my arthuritus(sp?) I would have left her for a bit longer, but it has to be done!

Absolutely agree, my youngest finished feeding not long ago. I was fully expecting that she would go on for longer as DD1 fed regularly up til the age of 3 then intermittently until a few months ago, so for her to finish at the ripe old age of one and a half came as a bit of a shock! Was gentle though, both times it was a very gradual thing but when I realised last month I was no longer a bf mummy I shed a few tears. It's hard to explain to people how it feels...

You are so right about breastfeeding being a time of bonding and closeness. :T

Society can take a spinning hike into obscurity for all I care! 'Society' is a bunch of people who have probably never experienced the joy of breastfeeding out of choice and who are revolted by the thought of a baby feeding off it's mom!

I breastfed my 1st child until 2, 2nd for 6 months and 3rd until 3,5 years! Yup! Shoot me!

A child should stop feeding when they and the mom are ready, not when 'Society' says they should be ready. Weaning my children was a gentle process with no trauma.

I still remember the looks of horror when my 2 year old climbed on my lap asking for titti....:rotfl:

Hi, just wanted too update. Its now been 2weeks since I stopped breast-feeding my 2yr old. It was'nt as tramatic as I thought it would be. She has been fine with it all and will settle with a cuddle instead.

  • hi all, it's nice to see this thread. I'm currently breastfeeding our 13 month old and was wondering how to deal with this.
I'm not planning on stopping yet but probably around this summer as my son is likely to spend some time away from me at my mom's.
    So thanks for the tips.
