That's the point of the rant, I wish I did just whizz to my usual garage. DPF Doctor say they fix DPF problems, but obviously not, they just say what it is and tell you take it elsewhere.
But as you said in the OP.. There was NO problem with the DPF. >>> to be told that the DPF is fine<<<

So are you expecting them to make up a fault & charge you for a new DPF?

I think the OP wanted them to say 'Checked your DPF, nothing wrong with it, no need to pay us for the time we spent checking it, have a nice day, dont forget to tell your friends about us'

Surely the local garage is at fault for insisting on doing their own checks before replacing the failed sensor. All they need is something from this DPF Doc to confirm what they found; that should be enough for them to change it. If they feel like it they can add a note to the invoice that the work was done against advice and is at the customer's own risk.

They were DPF related problems and that is what DPF Doctor claim to get the route of. It was the whole having to take it to another garage was the main problem. If they could have replaced the oxygen sensor at the same time then I'd have been much happier.

Just back from my usual garage and the diagnostic machine they used is exact same as DPF Doctor as both print outs are identical with same machine branding on. They confirmed what DPF Doctor said and replaced the sensor for a good quality one. Didn't charge me for extra diagnostic, just the sensor + labour.
  • Put it this way, if your garage that you use just changed the part without their own due diligence and it didn't work, you would be back here moaning about them that you are a layperson and you can't believe they took your say so....

looks like a lose lose for any provider you use sir.

Who says I'm moaning about the garage doing the test again. I'm moaning about DPF Doctor being a rip off and not doing the remedial work. Read the post from start sir.

Why is it a rip off?

They specialise in DPF Cleaning not other random mechanical/electrical work that is not their speciality.  They have carried out the assessment that you paid for.

Did they say they would do any remedial work when you talked them about their service before you took it in?

    You've not been "ripped off"
You paid £90.00 for a DPF check
If they'd found literally nothing wrong, would you be moaning?
As it is they have found something, but have chosen not to take the repair on.

They did find something wrong and it's related to the DPF by making the car think it had too much soot accumulation.
