Not least because most valuations will simply agree with the accepted offer unless downvaluing.princeofpounds said:
I actually initially interpreted 'in my favour' to mean a LOWER valuation, given it was sent to the seller.Indigo_and_Violet said:Surprised that the first two posters missed the important bit that the valuation was in your favour i.e. showing the house as worth more than you'd offered.1 -
A review of process to make sure it doesn't happen to others and a partial refund of the fee... ObviouslyThrugelmir said:

My previous lender actually sent my passport and payslips to the wrong person, and I received theirs!
She said something about putting it through the complaints procedure and I was worried for her job and said not to worry, mistakes happen, we're all human, and she said it had to go through as a complaint and I'd get compensation. Was only around 30 odd quid - and I still felt guilty even though that actually was a serious breach!2024 wins: *must start comping again!*1 -
Prediction: The most likely outcome is a smallish ex-gratia "Look, here's some money to please stop bothering us and go away" payment.Thrugelmir said:

Assuming the OP is looking to buy a different properly, the surveyor may offer to do that house at a highly reduced rate. Assuming the OP trusts them to do it.As others have said mistakes do happen, then is no GDPR breaches assuming the survey contained no personal info of the OP.0

It's pretty shocking that a professional advisor sends their professional advice, which is intended for their client, to 'the other party'.
It sounds like either a serious disciplinary matter - or a serious problem with their internal processes.
It's impossible to know if this contributed to the falling through of the sale - logic seems to suggest that a £5k difference in valuation wouldn't. But I guess if the sellers were already getting cold feet for other reasons, the thought that they were also underselling by £5k might have been a tipping point.

What's more likely in that case - (a) flounce off without any warning, remarket, and take the risk that they don't get any better a price from other buyers, or (b) simply ask the OP to up the price by £5k?eddddy said:But I guess if the sellers were already getting cold feet for other reasons, the thought that they were also underselling by £5k might have been a tipping point.1 -
Honestly, I'm paying £500 for a survey and I'd be furious if they sent it to the vendor.
I understand human error and I wouldn't want anyone to lost their job over it but I'd still expect a partial refund as an apology.Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -
But what is the actual loss?purplebutterfly said:Honestly, I'm paying £500 for a survey and I'd be furious if they sent it to the vendor.
Nothing. A short delay in the receipt of the report to the correct place. No more...1
