No 2, is exactly it. The only time I bother with FB profile, is to share some of the stuff brought up via "this time last year etc". Dont need to snoop on other people's profiles. It seems to be coming clearer now. I assume it best to deactivate FB via my laptop (chromebook). That said, I assumetafelmoneysaver said:The right action depends on what you are specifically trying to achieve:1) regain control of your data: delete your Facebook account or previous posts, but you may loose access to messenger2) regain control of your time: delete the Facebook app, and only use the messenger app. Your data stays on Facebook servers, you just don't access and view other peoples posts.
it will carry through to the other two devices ?.To be honest I don't know if the messenger I have is the FB one or not. What I don't want is to deactivate FB and loose messenger, but according to Bill above, as I proceed with the deactivation, there's an option to keep Msg.0 -

I'm fairly sure that there is only one messenger, although, how you get notifications on a chromebook and/or laptop without being on the FB website, I don't know.

You can certainly do so! When you deactivate your Facebook account, you can still use Messenger without reactivating the Facebook account itself.
I have done this a lot of times when I wanted to take a break from social media but maintain my communication channels. 0 -
Thankfully they still give you the option to keep using messenger. I can save a whole lot of trouble if you want to get off Facebook but remain in touch with everyone.-1
