Twist my arm. Brown sauce.Jimbobdibob said:MSE wisdom please.
Extra large squeezy bottle of Heinz tomato ketchup coming to an end after about 2 years, don't use much, only in sauces and when we treat ourselves to a takeaway fish & chips.
Have boycotted Heinz, price increases.
What is a good alternative?Credit card 2031

Farm Foods have cheap Hienz ketchup.2

That's brilliant, I never knew it lasted that long before going off. I use any cheap tomato sauce as I can't taste much difference.0

Personally, I’ve always been quite happy with Aldi or Tesco, but when Which? reviewed them they reckoned half the tasters weren’t keen on the Aldi version.Jimbobdibob said:MSE wisdom please.

They rated this one on a par with Heinz:
Asda Classic Tomato Ketchup - £1 for 550g (18p per 100g)
Less salt and sugar, but tasted every bit as good, said their tasters.4 -
I like Aldi smoked salmon. It costs about £4 for a big pack.
Their “takeaway” range is amazing too. Tastes just like Dominoes and is every bit as bad for you.
Their mince is pretty good quality and ok value. Their squash are very very nice.
The blueberries are ok.
You can get tinned fish although it’s not the cheapest, probably around 90p a tin.
Their yoghurt is ok although I’m not sure about the regulations on the continent. Cheese is ok.
I got some very nice frozen spinach recently.
I like their coleslaw. I think there’s probably only one coleslaw factory in the UK as all supermarket coleslaw is the same. I put vinaigrette with it. Heavenly.Credit card 2031

asda own brand came out top in a taste test, can't remember who did it and we have been buying it since, it is our favourite. Not the cheapest one, the normal own brand.1

Aldi own brand...Bramwell Original Tomato Ketchup much better than Heinz imho.Jimbobdibob said:MSE wisdom please.

Not a fan of Bramwell products or Batts (Lidl) either. Hunts is not too bad but I might decide to treat myself to a good small bottle made by Wilkins or someone if you only use it occasionally. I don't like the way ketchup gunks up the opening so was pleased to see a twofer deal which made getting 2 small bottles cheaper by volume than 1 large one. Possibly the second one will be beyond its BBD by the time we finish it but I ignore those. Or if it seemed to be heading off I'll use it in a BBQ sauce.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Lidl Deluxe Wild Boar Pate. Don't bother. It was just blah! Their regular line of pates are much nicer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Ooh I love pate but am largely veggie for ethical reasons. Although wild boar might be quite sustainable.Brie said:Lidl Deluxe Wild Boar Pate. Don't bother. It was just blah! Their regular line of pates are much nicer.Credit card 2031
