The white baps are fine @Cornucopia. I eat whole meal generally, but baps have to be white cos I use them for burgers.

I suspect if something is on the verge of being thrown away they would prefer to make sure it was sold instead.  Not like as if there's been a rush to buy an item if they end up reducing it.  No other customer could complain if there was also lots of the same product available at full price.

I think everyone is doing the eggs thing as there is a shortage.

There was a note up in my local Lidl that only 2 boxes of - I assume - the largest egg boxes (15) were permitted. 

I have moaned about the rises in Lidl prices but on a visit to Sainsbury, to track down loose leaf tea, I was taken aback to see an Organic whole chicken priced at £23.42.

Chickens are much scarcer because of the culling due to avian flu. Turkey prices are much higher than normal too.... glad I'm vegetarian!

Nobody 'compels' me to buy meat.
I buy it because I choose to, because I like the taste of beef, pork, lamb, chicken (not so keen on turkey).

My local Lidl have a range of veg. at 19p. 

Whole swede; 1.5kg bag of red or white potatoes; brussels sprouts; 1kg bags carrots; parsnips; broccoli/cauliflower floret mix bag; 300g bag Eschalion shallots - that's all I can remember.
