So if a buyer pays me directly, they don't benefit from PayPal protection so why would they do it?

So I signed up for direct payments into my account with no Paypal fees. So if a buyer pays me directly, they don't benefit from PayPal protection so why would they do it? And can buyers still pay by PayPal instead?

it's a good point. I'm not really sure I understand the whole thing.
for the last year or so as a buyer on ebay I have just been using my credit card, it seems so much quicker and easier. paypal asked me to log in every time and do a 2 factor authorisation which rarely worked first time so I just sacked it off.
presumably if you pay ebay directly you get similar protection to if you use paypal but I can't find it..?

Buyers shouldn't see any major changes to paypal - what they do see now is that as well as paypal being on the invoice they also see things like Apple pay (I think that's one of them or something similar), credit cards, debit cards etc - and the buyer chooses how they want to pay. Ayden then take that money, ebay take their fees and seller gets it into their bank account .
I suspect most buyers will continue using paypal for a while as they are used to it, perhaps some younger ones might start using these app payment things that I don't yet fully understand.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I assume by “direct payments” the OP means the new managed payments, which cuts out the PayPal element for the seller. This still works through eBay so the buyer still has buyer protections. The only way buyers lose that is if they choose to pay by BACS transfer, PayPal Friends & Family or outside of eBay.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. I had to add my Debit card to make the payments. Nothing wrong with my Paypal account as I can still use it everywhere else so yes, it looks like they are slowly phasing it out.0 -
