Hi
I got this deal through your energy club. I was paying £77/month for electricity at bulb who I had no complaint with. On ending my contract I had a refund of £75.
My usage prediction for the switch was the last 12 months actual usage. I have oil for cooking and heating so electricity is for lighting and general appliances and doesn’t change much. Peoples energy said I’d save £153/year on their tariff and I would pay £70.25 DD. Sounded great so I did it. Month 1 actual usage was £61.24 so well within the DD and I accrued some.
I’ve just received an email saying I’m using more than I’m paying for and they want to put it up to £77.
So I’ve told them no as I am not agreeable to funding their company. I’d like the cash in my bank not theirs.
This was your recommendation - the first time I’ve used your switch - so what do I do?

Welcome to the forum.Unfortunately you have misunderstood. You need to think in kWh from actual meter readings, not DD amounts. Your DD is not your bill. It's not All You Can Eat.1

LOL you do know that you are not actually speaking to MSE or anyone that has any input or connection to the Cheap Energy Club?
Which personally I would not use. As I prefer the CAB switch and the Switch with Which sites.
This site relies on individual members such as yourself posting for advice and getting individuals views?
So you put in actual usage from a bill 12 months ago to a bill 12 months later? In kWh not DD, Great! Therefore no annual usage estimates etc?
So peoples energy was the cheapest and you checked their rates per kWh and standing charges and it was best for you.
You did not rely on the suggested DD or the suggested savings per year in pounds?
You appear to have now used more and they have have suggested a DD of £77 per month which you were paying on your yearly contract from a year ago before you switched? It looks at the moment a saving?
You can request that this is lowered to £70.25 again?
A DD is not a bill it is money you put into a pot to pay your bills. At the end of the day you are either in credit or debit. It is not all you can eat scenario.
Unless you are now on a fixed contract with cancelation fees it may be worthwhile having a look at what is available through the above sites and see if any thing beats Peoples Energy, in actual Rates/Costs

I hope my below comments (listed under AVRO issues elsewhere on this site) might enlighten the debate and I recognise Energy Club is not linked here but why oh why do MSE the Energy Club not list AVRO who are so so much cheaper
Three hopefully important facts
I have been with Avro for over 3 years they have been and still are the cheapest so why comparison sites including this one are they excluded - I have simple and super glow - you do the maths ... the tariffs are much cheaper.
The second point is probably important.Customer Service is useless if you have a problem but there is a way around it.I had over £150 excess credit and asked for a refund - generic emails were frequent so what you do is do Companies House Check find Main Director check on LinkedIn and get his personal email send him the details and amazing ... 24 hours later my £150 is placed in my account.
AVRO sent a separate company to alter me to a smart meter the guy came left me a meter that does not work.I contacted AVRO who said they would re contact the installer - I'm still waiting 9 months later but I'm not bothered about a smart meter and therefore I just stick with them because they simply are the cheapest. I'd love to know why MSE continue not to quote AVRO prices

Avro ARE listed when I do a comparison - maybe you have set some filters that exclude it. Avro are £102 more than my current supplier.

Pick an other provider for your account and Avro will show up.The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -

Pick an other provider for your account and Avro will show up.Another good reason to use Citizens Advice and 'Which? Switch' rather than MSE CEC. Obviously the CEC would prefer that users switch to a different company so that the CEC gets paid commission, hence they censor the results from your existing company. It's really disappointing that the CEC has quietly abandoned its ethical principles but still claims to be holier-than-thou.2 -
Once again Avro are listed on MSE for me .

There is a filter on the left hand side of the page, offering you the option of seeing tariffs from your current supplier.
