Keeping mobile number
I'm currently on a monthly rolling contact, SIM only with 3 mobile. I've been paying nearly £15 a month for 5gb of data & unlimited minutes & texts. I've since found a better deal with a new phone, 100gb of data, unlimited minutes & texts for the same price also with 3 but through a third party company. I've asked 3 if they can match it, but they can't get anywhere near it. I only have to give them 1 months notice, but they're saying I can't take my number to the new phone, because it's still with 3. Are they telling porkies or not, or is there a way to take my number to the new contract?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Bit more effort and messing about, but you could always port your number to another provider on a PAYG SIM, then move it again to the contract you want using 3.

Not being able to port numbers between separate contracts on the same network is not unusual.
I'd suggest porting out your number to the cheapest Lebara SIM card. Can be done for about £1.99, using the half price £3.99 MSE plan.
Once on Lebara port the number back into Three onto the new contract. My farts hospitalize small children2 -
I've twice moved numbers from Three PAYG to a separate Three contract. In both cases I did it via Three's web chat. The second time the number was on a Three contract that had passed it's minimum contract term. I couldn't switch dorect but had to convert it to PAYG at the end of the notice period, then switch. This should work for you too.N. Hampshire, he/him. In both cases I bought the contracts from Three but via a TCB cashback link.

stuwho...
You need to give them 30 days notice that you want to convert your old contract to payg.
When it switches to payg you fill in a form to switch it from payg to your new contract .
