Changing UC bank details help

So I have changed my bank details on the journal and they said to ring to book an appointment which is booked for tomorrow,

What will they ask for on the phone as normally when I’ve changed bank details you don’t need to prove your bank details it can just be done

After doing security check, they will just ask you to confirm your bank details.

Ok thank you the Indian guy who booked the appointment was asking if I had a letter as proof of my bank to have and I was just wondering why as when I changed them with pip they just did it and said goodbye! Hopefully tomorrow when they call they can just update them as it’s a brand new bank so no letters yet

It's just a different verification process for UC. They may ask if you have a bank card, statement or letter with your sort code on, as part of the checks, but its just to check it's correct.

I can remember some posts at MSE in the past where a recipient of UC who changed banks was called into the JobCentre to provide further details as a security check. Given that JC's have just re-opened to the public I imagine that telephone checks are probably being done at present as an alternative.

The check serves two purposes - firstly to confirm you actually have access to the account (hence the request to bring in bank card or bank statement during non-covid times), and secondly, to check the information entered (sort code and account number) is correct and no typos have been made. If you were to put a typo in your account number, your benefits would be paid into someone else's bank account and it would be your fault and nothing you could do about it (it happens!)
Banks are also introducing verification of account name (that it matches the account number), hence the need to see the name on the statement or bank card to ensure it matches what has been provided and it is surprising how many people provide incorrect details that would fail verification checks.
