You've ran away with an assumption that you can combine postage when you should confirm this with the buyer BEFORE committing to buy. Maybe eBay should include a flag that sellers can fly if they are happy to combine.

Sellers can already show a statement if they combine automatically, ebay even work out the postage based on the terms and conditions that the seller sets. If selling you can find this either on the advanced listing tool or in your settings, you state which listings are eligible and what the rules are for combination and this automatically shows when a buyer looks.

I prefer not to allow ebay to automate that much for me and like to maintain some control so I do not have it set and since 90 % of my listings are BIN it wouldn't work anyway as I mostly have free postage and you cannot discount that. The trouble with automation is that I have some items that I will not combine, either due to weight , size of how delicate they are and don't want ebay deciding that I will. When I sell single items from a collection though I do add a line to my listings saying something like 'I have more of this xxx listed and if you win more than one item please ask me for a combined invoice before payment'.

To be fair, some sellers have the option to request a combined total turned off.  As these were items of clothing AND they had the option of requesting a combined total turned on, yes I assumed but it wasn't baseless.  However as already said, clearly my reasoning was faulty and we live and learn!

Me again, hello.  I want to return 4 items from the order in one parcel, but have to open a return for each item which then tells me I need to print off a label for each one.  If I return all 4 items in one parcel, is there any way of ensuring the system knows I've sent all 4?  There doesn't appear to be anywhere I can upload a reference or tracking number myself - can I print off one label and it will count for all 4 somehow?  The return details for each case only have one item each

I just cannot get my head around having to send them separately, it's completely unnecessary, especially when they all arrived in one parcel to start with.

To be safe I believe you need to send each back separately and get the proof of delivery to get a refund. If this is a change of mind return then you might be better to pay for each label independently unless you trust the seller to refund without any argument if you combine. If it is a SNAD a then speak to seller as they might be able to find a way of getting a combined label to save themselves the cost of the return.

Well poop, but thanks.  That is an excellent point about whether I trust them - not at all.  I sent them a message last night, and as expected they have not responded.  I wish I could actively give zero stars for communication - I can be patient (I'd happily wait a couple of days for a response to a message at first) but this is just so far continuing the pattern of completely ignoring any message.

It's especially frustrating because I've never returned anything on eBay before; the two SNAD claims I've ever made were refunded without returning the items, so this is all new territory for me!  I can't even try to sell the items instead because they're poor quality (but not faulty and not bad enough to count as SNAD).
