The etiquette when a parcel is left with a neighbour

Should it be up to me to collect it as it's my parcel or should the person who has taken it drop it round when I'm home ?
I'm guessing as it's my parcel it's down to me to collect it asap. Just moved onto a new estate so would like to be on the good side with everyone or at least try to.
Thanks in advance for the replies.2 -
You collect it from the neighbour, they've already been kind enough to take it in.
I usually have to put a note through the door, having waited 5 days for them to knock for it; the postie always puts a card through too.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
you would have to go and collect it as it is your parcel and you can not expect your neighbour to work out when you are home and bring the parcel over. he has already done you a big favour by accepting the parcel and keeping it for you, you can not expect him to deliver it as well!
i am really surprised that you even have to ask this.
out of courtesy, i would go and collect it as soon as i can possibly can so that it does not inconvenience the neighbour, having to keep it for longer than necessary. otherwise, he may not feel so inclined to be so neighbourly the next time the post man knocks on his door, and asks him if he could keep a parcel for you.1 -
If I have a card telling me I always go round right away but of course sometimes they're not in and often they take it round. There's sometimes no card or it doesn't say which number so rely on them.
One neighbour works shifts so I'd wait till I see there car and take it round.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I would get it, say thank you and apologise.0

Personally I expect my neighbor to deliver it to me.
I like an email 24h beforehand informing me of the day with a 3 hour delivery window.
On delivery day I want a phone call 30 minutes before the dropoff.
The parcel should be put on my door step and the door knocked politely. The neighbor needs to stand back as I open the door. A quick nod from me then they should be on their way. Strictly no small talk.

I took in a parcel for next door today. Normally I'd expect one of them to pop round to pick it up, but I'd been out shopping after work and one of the neighbours pulled into their driveway 30 seconds after I'd pulled into mine. So I unlocked the house, got the parcel and took it round.0

We often get mis-delivered parcels. We take them round and point out the correction they need to make on their address ... Irritatingly, the postcode is often correct for them, wrong for us.
But if we didn't take them round, no-one would ever know ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
My neighbours are not so good, house party and hot tub parties during lockdown... both in jobs with vunerable adults.
We went on holiday, another lockdown came in, had to come home 2 days early and self-isolate.
Had 2 parcels whilst we had been away, both unexpected. An Amazon parcel, we have no idea to this day who or what it was / or who from. The other was the Octopus large teddy free for signing up.
We could not knock at neighbours for obvious reasons, after X days had passed husband went to ask for parcels.... Octopus had been opened by them.... with some BS about 'we was going to send it back, looking for the return address, (which was on the top of the parrcel / box)' and in the next breath they said... we thought you had gone away (same time each year) and no Amazon parcel, Amazon person, scanned it left with neighbour and then came back for it, yet the Amazon person left us a card telling us where they had left it!
Just before husband got back into the house, after asking for parcels and saying sorry unable to call (neighbours have a child under 5 who visits) a big AAAAWWWW rang out....we think the child was expecting to keep the Octopus toy!
