The etiquette when a parcel is left with a neighbour

I'd like other people's view on what the etiquette would be when a parcel I've ordered has been left at a neighbour's.
Should it be up to me to collect it as it's my parcel or should the person who has taken it drop it round when I'm home ?
I'm guessing as it's my parcel it's down to me to collect it asap. Just moved onto a new estate so would like to be on the good side with everyone or at least try to.
Thanks in advance for the replies.

You collect your own parcel and apologise for any inconvenience.

You go & collect your parcel & thank the neighbour very much for taking it in. You never know you might make a friend.5

Your neighbour shouldn't be inconvenienced further by your requirement to order something. He / she has already had to deal with the delivery and then store it; delivering it to you as well is a step too far.
Collect it, thank the person politely and use it as an opportunity to introduce yourself.2 -
We are retired so are frequently asked to take delivery for neighbours. Yes, I agree the recipient should come to fetch the package but we find some of the drivers are too rushed (idle?) to put a card through to say a parcel has been left elsewhere. Then the neighbours are unaware we’ve got the thing! In theory, it’s all electronic so they should have notification that way but who knows?0

If you know who has it - you go and get it as soon as practical. Perhaps avoiding obvious mealtimes or very late at night. After a bit you might get to know (both ways) when people are likely to be in or out.
I need to think of something new here...1 -
Yes, as above collect, don't expect them to deliver your parcel too, apologise for any inconvenience and thank them for looking after it.0

Do as you would be done by.0

It's very rare for someone to take a parcel in for me as we are retired and home a lot. That may change as lockdown eases more.I'm happy to take a parcel in for anyone, I've actually approached a delivery driver who is trying to deliver a parcel for someone who is clearly not in and offered to take it.pattycake said:We are retired so are frequently asked to take delivery for neighbours. Towards the end of last year my neighbour took about 5 parcels in for me as I was in the office working & obviously not home. When I knew it was the last delivery I was expecting, I knocked their door & asked them for the parcel & promptly handed them a bottle of wine as thanks.4

I've got my neighbour trained to catch me as I pull up to the house ....if the hubby is with me she waits until he's gone inside!0
