Oven cleaner

I would post photos if I could before and after just to illustrate as I cannot I just describe it.
It comes in a box, a gel bottle, a nylon brush, and some protective gloves. I have an oven that had not been cleaned for 10 years, so it had at least 3mls of burnt in grease carbonized which to scratch felt like was part of the oven, I tried using astonish cream but that which is usually excellent on pans sinks etc did work at all so with the gloves on and armed with the brush after taking all the racks out I brushed the gel on the sides and bottom of the oven, left it for three hours (the best thing on this product is virtually no smell definitely no toxic fumes a pleasure to clean with) and then wiped it clean.
I could not believe my eyes it looked new and very shiny, both the sides and the bottom, amazing there was only a vary small area at the bottom that didn't completely came off so I reapplied more gel to that area and left it overnight, wiped it in the morning and the whole of that bit came off as well. Another good thing is although this product is not that cheap i think I only used a quarter of the bottle or at the most a third. so in my opinion great value for money as with other products they may be cheaper but I think you end up using the whole container making them really more expensive....****WELL DONE OVEN MATE**** you get 5 stars from me. :T0 -
We used oven pride. The shelves in my oven are so shiny that they look brand new. The OH had to give them a bit of a scrub with some wire wool where the pieces join but they came up brilliantly.
It is just about elbow grease and finding the right products. If your oven is as manky as mine was:o then you might need to work on it for a while. Don't give up you will feel much better when you have done it.
Good luckDe cluttering Konvert.Getting there

Oven pride for me too although it didn't get some really burnt off stuff off the bottom of the oven so I bought the oven mate from Lakeland after seeing great reviews but it was no better than the oven pride so I'll stick with that as it's cheaper.0

I don't know about the sides and floor of the oven, although the sides might be removable. I have a large container that is made for soaking oven shelves in, and I soak them in caustic soda. Does a wonderful job, they barely need wiping afterwards let alone scrubbing! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

For DIY Ovenpride is the way to go. Alternatively get an oven cleaning company in to do it for you - costs somewhere around £50.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0

Try biological powder mixed as a paste. Its dead cheap & really does work. I got the tip from 'How clean is your house'. Best tip ever0

I also use a large tray for the grill shelves (Lakeland, about £9.00) and it's indispensable, and also use washing soda to give them a soak. Will try the biological powder though, sounds good. Cleaned oven yesterday - must have had a mad moment - and it was yukky. These built in single ovens are just so small!
I used Mr Muscle because I'd got some left. Annoying, the nozzle keeps clogging and it comes out in a small stream of foamy stuff. No more Mr Muscle for me (except maybe the window cleaner...no...not the product, just the window cleaner!!!)Normal people worry me.0
