Virgin Media Essential broadband (Universal Credit)

Options
Has anyone tried this? It's for people on Universal Credit. It's 15 Mbps for £15 a month.
Is it ok for 1 person using a laptop and watching Netflix?
It doesn't say if it's a contract. I did have 100 Mbs and a phoneline for £26.  I phoned last October, when I lost my job, and they gave me 50 Mbs, took my phoneline off me and reduced my payments to £25 and said I could leave at any time. (I don't know what I was thinking at the time)
Also, once you sign up for it, you can't get any new customer offers in the future so have to pay full price. I've been with Virgin for years so thought my loyalty would let me go back to what I was paying for before, once I can afford it again.
The only thing stopping me going elsewhere really is that I have a lot of saved emails I don't want to lose.
Any advice, please?

15 Mbps is enough to stream in HD for a single user, absolutely. Nexflix will be quite happy with that speed.

    As for your emails

Add your account into Outlook, create a personal folder (Archive file / PST file), and drag and drop your entire Virgin inbox into the PST file.

It will take a long time for this copy to complete but you only have to do it once.

You'll then have a record of all your historic emails saved locally on your PC and you'll be free to use a GMail or Outlook.com account as you wish, therby no longer holding you to Virgin's ransome; you'll be able to choose another ISP if you wish but beware any other ISP will be limited by the quality of your phone lines in the area and your proximity to your local cab, as all other ISPs rely on the BT Openreach network to deliver their service, only Virgin operate their own independant infrastrucutre where speeds aren't affected by location.
  • You could give your notice to cancel and see what retentions/cancellations can offer you.
Check you have your marketing listed as Yes plus they have your correct phone details.
