Help link boiler guarantee

We purchased a boiler through the helplink scheme 9 years ago as we were short on cash at the time. The Worcester boiler has been very good to be fair but when we had it serviced today the independent plumber said the heating exchange had gone. As helplink is no more I called Worcester direct and they advised the part is under guarantee but not the labour. They are charging me £181.00 for the labour but advised this could rise to £298.00 if anything else is wrong with the boiler, though the plumber has assured me that there are no other faults. Does anyone know of this is correct as a normal guarantee usually includes parts and labour? Thanks!

You'll have to see exactly what your original Ts & Cs stated.

Sadly, other 'normal' guarantees simply aren't relevant, it's only what's in yours that counts.

It's like having a car crash and trying to claiming for a new vehicle because 'normal' policies are comprehensive, it won't help you if yours was only TPF+T.

I had a dishwasher with a "parts only" warranty and fixed charge of £90 per call-out. It failed twice. I paid the fee twice and so many parts had been replaced that I had almost a new dishwasher internally. When it failed for the third time (out of warranty), I bought a new one of a different brand.
