What time low rate electricity

Don't know what time our meter switches over to night-rate electrictricity but at 12:30 at night it was still using day-time. This is not a smart meter but just a plain old Economy-7 meter. It must switch at some point as the low-rate counter does go up but I have no idea what time of night it actually starts.

Probably 0130 as its British Summer Time - off 0830Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill2

Look at a bill: the map's area number is the two digit code in the bottom left corner of your S number.-1

Worth bearing in mind that if you have an electro-mechanical timer, rather than a radio-switch or an electronic meter that keeps its own time, there is a tolerance of up to two hours before the timing is considered incorrect. These timers don't take account of BST/GMT either. So, if you are on putting heavy loads, like water heating or washing machines etc make sure your timings are well clear of the margins for off peak.If the timer is more than two hours adrift then inform your supplier and they will get it adjusted or fit something more 21st century.1

Well we are in either area 10 or area 12 both of which state 23:00 - 7:00 but this is not what is actually happening in reality.

You'll just have to keep checking the meter until you see it change over. But why don't you know your area?-1

While the information given give the likely ones. There are a lot of e7 times. At least you are not in scotland with it's called e7 still but it's 8.5 hours. As said some meters will take BST into account, some will not. And if its an old mech one then if you want it correct you are best geting a smart meter (whatever X says, they are fine and it will make no difference to you in a bad way, businessis taking up that slack as ever).Anyway back to e7. there are many time and many are also split and have a "peak" hour or two in the night. You have no excuse for not knowing your mpan. The full S number is muchly irellivent to you. The two digits of the bottom 13 numbers are the important bit. It's on any bill you ever had and can view online now.
If you do have a mech timer just watch it till it changes. In the midele of the day as it could would be benefical to you. Fraud still but not likely to be blanmed unless you prove yourself knowledgable to your supplier. And even then unliekly in the costly enough already domestic market.0
