Spelling auto-correct to American English?

I recently bought a new laptop and have it set up as a UK keyboard and language as UK english.
When posting anything here (and on some other forums) I'm constantly being prompted to change spellings to American english. (eg licence to license; honour to honor; realise to realize etc). Is that a peculiarity of this forum and website, or is there something on my laptop that I still need to change? It's really annoying!
(PS - I'm new to Windows 10, and when I was setting it up I selected UK english for both language and keyboard. I also seem to recall being asked during setup if I needed assistance with spelling etc and I'm sure I would have selected "no". Might I have misunderstood something there? I never had any prompts to change to American spellings when using Windows 7.)

This could be down to either the spell check settings of your browser / or the locale setting for you PC.
1. Open Windows settings and type "Language" and the make sure UK is selected for all the 6 options listed below. If not, click on them and change to UK. When you have done, restart the PC and see if it now works ok.
2. Depending on your browsers that you are using, go into the settings for it and change spell check language to UK - let us know which browser you are using so we can help if the above doesn't work.

Check the language settings in your browser. Chrome, for example, has a spell check setting.

Colour, honour, licence, recognise.
Thanks. Looks like it was spelling settings in Edge. VERY annoying.
Thank you.0 -
But, full marks for ridding the world of americanisations - if only in a small way!!!

This needs to be in the Motoring thread, where seemingly only one person in every dozen is aware of the difference.onomatopoeia99 said:

I think it's much fewer than one in a dozen!Username03725 said:

Practise / practice is the one I always get wrong. Still always turn off spelling checkers though; they are insufferable!1

The one I don't understand, but you often see on these boards, is people asking "Can someone give me some advise please...?"
Even Americans don't say that - or do they?2
