Simple PaYG Mobile for elderly parents

I'm looking for a simple phone for my parents who are approaching 90, as their current one has broken.

They make approx 1 call per week on thir existing mobile, and within reason cost for the handset or per call is not going to be a significant part of the equation. Having said that, I have found some phones designed for the elderly, but the handset cost £150. As they are both well able to learn how to use a new phone, I don't see any point in paying that sort of money to get one of these models.

They live in a part of the North of Scotland, where coverage is an issue, and our preferred supplier is O2.

Any comments welcome.

Thanks

Colin

I have bought my parents a Motorola F3 as part of their Christmas. It's a very simple phone and works more like a house dect phone than a mobile phone. It's very basic and doesn't really do menus like a normal phone. However it has the ability to save numbers to memory, large clear and easy to read display. It's also quite loud.

When I went into see it at carphone warehouse they tried to steer me to a Nokia instead. However when I treid it it seemed to be exactly what my parenst would get on with. No fancy menus to confuse them.

It comes unlocked so you can put any sim card into it. If they already have an O2 phone they could just transfer the sim over. My parents use Tesco Mobile which uses the O2 network.

The phone costs around £19.95 with £10 of airtime. I bought it through Quidco for £17.95, got £7.50 cashback and £11 credit on the phone. A real bargain.
