How do I read the EDF Meter?

Firstly, sorry for the question, but EDF have asked for meter readings, (which is strange as they are Smart meters so I thought they fed back the data to EDF).

However, my question is which buttons do I need to press i.e. there are different coloured buttons on both meters (the electricity one has one red and one green), so which do I press and also which screen do I cycle through to get the actual reading, when each screen has different information?
I would have used the EDF chat facility to ask this question, but it never works as it should, and phoning them would result in being on hold for a while.
Thanks

Smart meters are produced by a number of manufacturers and there are numerous models. Try this for a start:

    https://www.edfenergy.com/smart-meters/using-a-smart-meter

I am able to access my meter readings via the IHD.

Okay but can I get it from the meters in the cupboard though as the digital thing only works with the gas meter not the electic.

What meter has EDF fitted? Meter manufacturer and model: for example, L&G E470 Model 5424 or Kaifa MA120. There is no standard button push; indeed, some meters such as the Kaifa MA120 do not require any button pushes. The meter display just cycles between date/time; import index reading and export index reading.

    EDIT:

I have just seen another post and someone has had a L&G E470 meter fitted by EDF yesterday. To get a meter reading off this meter, you need to do the following:

How to read Landis and Gyr SMETS2 meters: To read your Landis and Gyr electricity meter, press 'B' to light the screen up. You should be given the option for a meter boost - press 'A' to select 'No', and then you should be able to see your electricity reading.

You may find that the reading is annotated Import; R1 or Total. That said, if you have a Chameleon IHD, the total index reading is available if you look in the sub menus.

In my experience the electric meters that EDF use show the reading by default, so no button pressing required (unless you are on a multi-rate tariff). The gas meters they generally use require the middle button to be pressed.

Okay I have a Landis one - so I pressed B, then "no", and the next screen has "01040 kw/h" - so is that the meter reading?

Yes - that is the meter reading that you give to your supplier. What are you seeing in the IHD with regards to your electricity meter? It is possible, that it will need an engineer visit to pull your main fuse for 3 minutes. Has EDF sent a message to the DCC asking them to initiate a remote reset of the comms hub?

Does IHD refer to the digital Smart meter? If so, then it does no show the electricity on there, only the gas readings. That is probably why they need to ask me for readings. In the interim, I did phone EDF and they guy at the end hadn't a clue about the meter I had with the A and B buttons. I was put on hold a few times and then I hung up.

Whatever you do, don't send a gas reading that's shown in kWh !  Only send a one shown in m3, otherwise you'll be hit with a massive bill and an increased DD amount.

The IHD (the In House Display) is linked via wifi to the comms hub that sits on top of the electricity meter. The comms hub establishes two networks; one, the Home Area Network (HAN) that provides the link to your IHD and, two, it establishes a link known as a Wide Area Network (WAN) to allow your energy supplier to pull data from the comms hub (that is, the gas and electricity readings).

The fact that your supplier is asking for readings suggests that there is either a fault with the ESME (your electricity meter) or the comms hub WAN.

You can see what data your comms hub is providing by looking at the N3rgy.com website. Use the 'I am a consumer' link and you will need your MPAN from a recent statement and what is known as the GUID (the number on the bottom of your IHD). You can then click the electricity and gas tabs to see if data is being sent.

If not then, your supplier needs to initiate a remote reset via the Data Communications Company. If this fails then they will need to send out an engineer to check the electricity and reset the comms hub manually.

If you are getting nowhere with EDF,  then switch to a supplier that has an exceptional smart meter team; for example, Octopus Energy.

Yes EDF were pain from the beginning when I had to get the meters switched over. Changing to a standard meter from a prepayment one also seemed to cause them serious difficulties.
