Cancelling contract with 3 in area with no reception
Hi - I have literally been trying for over 6 months to cancel my contract with Three. Granted, I do keep giving up and just deciding to stay with them because I dont have the time to cancel. But now I have moved to an area where I have no reception at my house or anywhere nearby. Its becoming impossible to do straightforward things because every company needs to verify your ID by sending text messages nowadays it seems. I have tried about 5 times to cancel my account. Every single time I request a PAC code they first tell me there is an issue with my account. When I eventually get through to someone they say that because of the issue (whatever that is) someone from the three service team has to call me back ON MY MOBILE and even though I have told them to write my landline in capital letters to call me on that instead, no one ever does. It is driving me insane and surely it must be illegal to make it impossible to stop a contract (that ran out in 2017 so no problem with cancelling too early). Any ideas? Tried calling local shops - they say there is nothing they can do from the shop - how is this possible??? My husband managed to find the address of head office so my next attempt will be to write an old fashioned letter but dont hold much hope for that. Thanks for any suggestions.

Well if the only way Three will talk to you is on your mobile and you cannot get a Three signal, the obvious solution is to find an area with Three reception and phone them from there. If that means sitting in the park or standing in the middle of a pavement somewhere, or the house of a relative/friend, then go and do that. As the saying goes, if the mountain (in this case a Three signal) won't come to you, you'll have to go to the mountain.1

I think you lost your argument by moving.
They will say it wasn't there thought you decided to move to somewhere you cannot get a signal.
They don't guarantee signal if you move so sorry i think you have lost your case and the only way out is if you pay the contract off.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -
As above, if you choose to move to an area with no service then it's down to you not Three.
Presumably it's OK in places where there is service so they are still fufilling their side of the contract which is to provide service where possible - theres no guarantee of 100% coverage.
The problem with the PAC code is another matter. Requesting a PAC code does not cancel your account all it does is give another provider permisiion to transfer your number and by implication, your account will get closed when you give the PAC code to the new provider and they use your number on your contract.
If you decide to write to them using snail-mail then make sure you either get proof of posting or better stiill, proof of delivery (send it signed for)Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Regarding the previous two posts, it sounds to me like the OP is not trying to void his contract early without charge because of lack of signal, "(that ran out in 2017 so no problem with cancelling too early)" - but is just trying to get his PAC and leave.Evolution, not revolution0
