I recall a probably apocryphal story of a small bubble car that had no reverse gear and where the only door was the front of the car that opened forwards.Clive_Woody said:....I have a large foam pad fixed to the wall in front of my car that I nudge up to that indicates I am in far enough and the door will close behind.
If the driver did what you do he/she would be stuck until rescued.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -

Or stick a picture on the garage wall to line the wing mirrors up with. George Best helps me to park my car with pinpoint accuracy every time.oldagetraveller1 said:"I have a large foam pad fixed to the wall in front of my car that I nudge up to that indicates I am in far enough and the door will close behind. "As an alternative, position the car where the door will close. Then hang and attach to garage roof something like a tennis ball, on a long enough string, which just touches the winscreen!

Marker on the walls to line up with the wing mirrors to check how far back I am. Carpet on the driver's side wall to protect the edge of the door when I open it.

Use the garage for all your old junk like everyone else does. Problem solved.
Alternatively convert the garage in to a pub for you and your mates.1 -
Buy 1980s carsNewLeaf1986 said:We have a garage, property built circa 1980. We have a 2008 Jaguar XF and a 2003 W211 Mercedes E55.
Round my way, most of the garages are attached to 30s housing so everything lives on the drive.I need to think of something new here...0 -
Using a garage to keep a car in.
What an unusual and novel idea !!
If I did that where would I keep all my shi valuable possessions that are currently taking up all my garage space ??Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???1 -
Except all Isettas had reverse gears, I thought it was really odd when they did that! The Messerschmitts didn't have a reverse gear, but could be reversed by switching off, flicking a switch to change the timing then restarting the engine in reverse, thus giving 4 reverse gears! I'm not sure about any of the other bubble cars.NewLeaf1986 said:
