Back again and trying to be consistent
Got some good news this week and finally able to shed my high interest CC to a 0% balance transfer which will reduce my DFD date. And managed to reach the first stage of my savings goal!
On that note, I have been obsessively checking my online bank account + spreadsheets and see if I can find any loopholes in my spending (in a bid to reduce and check myself).

Evening allReally cold today and rained almost all day
Went to take the dog out this morning, as he seemed keen, but once we got out there, he cowered in the wind and rain and looked like an RSPCA case. So I popped him back into the house and OH and I went for a walk without him. He wasn't particularly happy about that either!
Spent the rest of the day sorting out the freezers. Did an inventory and managed to empty the smaller one (the bottom half of the fridge freezer). Decided to replace this with a fairly tall larder fridge, though less tall than the fridge freezer - it is more than 10 years old and doesn't owe us anything, and I think a decent sized fridge would work better in our kitchen. The large upright freezer in the conservatory is plenty big enough for us, though if I had 10 freezers I would probably fill themSo not a NSD, though I found one of the right size at a good price, went through quidco for cashback, and got free delivery. It will arrive next Friday
Not unplanned, as we have a budget to make the house work a bit better for us. We have been here almost 10 years now, and although we did quite a lot of work when we moved in, some things were left till later, and also a few of the early decisions we made have turned out not to be ideal.
Left sausages out of the freezer for dinner, and also a pastry quiche shell, which I made into a dessert quiche with the aid of a tin of peaches, a spoonful of sugar, some eggs and some cream. Enough for puddings for at least 2 days there2 -
Afternoon folks
Looks like lots of excellent MSE action going on.
@DawnW - your little dog is so funny
@allydowd - fingers crossed for you re the interview
@jadewest94 - I hope you're feeling better today. I've been invited for my jab but not sure when to time it as I'm likely to feel rough
@anjyeah - great work on the ccard and savings!
@Alising - welcome aboard! Porridge oats work well for bulking out spag bol but I prefer orange lentils for a protein boost too
Well we were back from our little jaunt away. It felt very nice to be somewhere other than home. We met up with my mum and dad on the M6 and exchanged Christmas gifts in the pouring raiin! It wasn't exactly MSE but we had put money aside for it and stuck to our budget. It was also very nice to have a meal that we didn't have to cook or wash up afterwards.
Poor OH had to turn round and head out again once we were home as he has his first gig in 18 months tonight! I went up to the allotment to "have a look". 2 hours and a lot of grass cutting later I trudged home! I saw the site secretary. She's not very happy with the state of the half plot next to us, which is the one that I have my eye on if they give it up. Site sec is going to call them so I'm hoping they might deign not to come back...
MSE things:Pinched the biccies off the hospitality tray in the room
Took the ends of the tiny jars of honey that we started (assume that they will be binned as opened otherwise)
Used one of the jars to sweeten some rhubarb from the allotment
2 washes done and pegged out on the line
All bits put away
Do a little bit of work tonight in a data searching, internet pootling way to get ahead a bit as I owe them an hour for my extended lunch on Weds.
Have a good one all

It has actually not rained much today - more heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow, but still....Dog walks x 2 - DD and little GS came round this afternoon, and wanted to go and see if the swan had hatched her babies. We didn't see them, but she may simply have taken them upriver. GS enjoyed watching the canoeing team practisingFed everyone lunch first, cheese and chutney toastiesVery little bit of gardening, just potted up some plants and watered the seedlings, tomatoes and lettuce farm in the growhouse.Hoping to get the tomatoes out next week, as heavy rain and high winds are supposed to stop.Prepped RM survey items for the coming weekBit of a tidy roundSalmon for dinnerNothing exciting, but nothing spentHoping to go to a Sunday market with a boot sale tomorrow morning. This one is a bit more of a drive than the open air ones, but is based at a livestock market with hard standing and a covered area, so they can run even if it is raining or the ground is waterlogged2

Afternoon allWent to the market this morning as planned, and got a few bargains, including a big block mozzarella for £1 - short dated, but I find that mozzarella freezes fineWalked dogVacuumed and dusted bedroom, cleaned bathroom, including the floor, wiping down tiles and towel radiator thing.Reduced paninis for lunch, with mozzarella, tomatoes and pestoSpent the afternoon so far sorting out the larder, filling up storage jars etc.Inventoried the 'extras' in a separate cupboard on the landing, and moved some down to the larder. These are shelf stable things (and cleaning stuff / toiletries) bought to make up minimum spends on supermarket deliveries etc during the lockdown(s) when I was avoiding shops due to shielding, and were all on offer when I bought them. I guess I saved money buying in advance, as some have gone up in price quite a bit now, but in any case they are all things that we will use up over the coming months, and then I will get my landing cupboard back!I have a couple of ebay parcels to pack, and items to get ready to take to my sales unit - tired, so this might have to wait till tomorrow morningBut tired or not, I do need to make a big pan of bolognese, some of which will be tonight's dinner.3

Hi all
Had a spendy weekend but all budgeted.
I had my first gin ad tonic since new year eve
Utterly vile, went to waste. At least Christmas will be cheaper without 86 bottles of booze
Debt is going down fast.
I have got some summer bits to put on ebay but as it's October l can't be bothered 🤣2 -

DW caved in and bought a takeaway for dinner while I was out. Oops. I am fighting the urge to go near the company vending machine.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama3
