What small DFW things will you do this week 17/05/21?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation.  These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

    Morning folks

@DawnW - 9 hours was a bit much even for me. I don't mind the 5-6... I take my knitting and just enjoy the rest but by 4pm I was getting very stiff!

Jumping in to start off the thread! Well from famine to feast... I now have 2 live jobs at work and may have a third coming up! I'll be in 5 days a week from next week :dizzy: Def shouldn't complain but my poor brain is def a bit sluggish!

Today was my first day back at the gym. I got half way though and stopped haha - my hips were getting very stiff so I thought it was better to fight another day than destroy myself straight away!

    Small things:
:star: B/L/D from stores. OH has put chinese pork into the sc already
    :star: Cook soup for tomorrow
:star: Put together lunch/snacks for tomrrow. Make a decision on the gym later. Probably won't go as don't want to overdo it.
:star: Health stuff: no alcohol, no sweet treats, log fruit and veg in rainbow app, mark off habits in habit tracker.
:star: Bit of knitting although must take breaks as my hand got cramped last night
:star: If I go home on the train, nip into shop to buy birthday gift for friend's little girl and onions.

    Havea good one all

    Morning all :)
Thanks for starting the thread CLF - can't believe it is the 17 May already. And the weather is still mostly horrid! Actually it hasn't really rained this morning, so I got some little bits of gardening done. Forecast to rain again this afternoon though :(
    I have:
    Dog walk done
    Quick tidy round
Load of washing out on the line
Potted on perpetual spinach plants, they are a bit small to go out in my little jungle just yet.
Worked out more or less where everything will go, and moved some big pots around. I only have a little garden, and space is always at a premium.
Planted out runner beans in their big pot, with a pretty obelisk thing to climb up. They won't mind the rain, and surely we won't get any more frost now! If they expire it isn't too late to sow more - but they should be ok. Left the French beans for another day. The variety I grow (I save seed every year, it is a climbing purple variety whose name I forgot ages ago, quick growing with tough stems and lots of pretty mauve flowers) is pretty tough though, and I will get them out soon.
Picked a colander full of lovely fresh salad leaves from my 'lettuce farm' in the bottom of my little growhouse. Also a few little radishes.
    Watered the seedlings.
    Still to do:
Find some pretty jardinieres that I know are in the garage, for my aloe plant and Christmas cactus
Sort out a couple of cupboards - a job for when it rains later! Didn't get to this
Some housework (boo!) Or much of this!
The electrician from the conservatory company came at last, dealt with the taped off wiring and reconnected the light, so at least that is now done. I like the new light he put up, which OH and I chose a few weeks ago to replace the old light fitting that got lost somehow when the old conservatory was removed.  Hoovered after he had finished, and put the stuff back that we had had to take out to make him space. Threw out an old pair of trainers with holes in the soles. Laughed at OH's collection of shoes which live in an old metal chest under the table in the conservatory. He is like Imelda Marcos - one pair of shoes is kept expecially for driving one of our son in law's old sports cars, and there is a special pair of boots for taking the dog out in the snow - especially hilarious as no way would the dog agree to go for a walk if it snowed :D:D
Dinner tonight will be the rest of the tarragon chicken I made yesterday :)

    Good Evening everyone

@carrielovesfanta - Thanks for starting us off today.

@DawnW - I love the sound of your hubbys shoe collection but love your dog and his exploits more - what a character

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

Well, what a day, the sun is now shining but we seem to have experienced every kind of weather - rain, storms, hail.  Not much to do here as up to date with everything.  This evening looks just as boring as footie is on already, so I will continue on with my french knitting which has been sat in a bag by my chair for a while - I'm going to plait 3 lengths together to make a garland for Christmas, although I also want to try adding wire and creating names with it too for 3 young Great Nephews as part of their Christmas gifts, so french knitting will definitely be ongoing through out the year too but am determined to finish tese two balls this week.

    Checked Bank & made PAD
    Swagbucks
Removed feet from coffee table and added casters to give it a new look.
Ordered paint to revamp our coffee table and chest of drawers in our bedrrom - furniture is in good condition, just fancy a change of colour.
    Entered a few comps
    Purged a few emails
    All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer
    Checked: Lucky Bob, PMP, WinaDinner

    Have a good week everyone.

    Morning all,
Sorry not been on much life gets in the way sometimes! Not much going on just about to make breakfast and a coffee then off to work I go. Got my zoom call this evening and tomorrow I'm off work as I've got my covid jab at 2.30. On other news though my smart watch came and I've been playing around with that.

    Morning folks!

A nice sunny day here at least :) decided last night to head off to the gym this morning again. I am going to REALLY feel it later. I am already feeling it now tbh... - back of my knee not totally happy with me :/

The small things look like this:
    B/L/D from stores

 Wash on and OH tasked to hang it out
    :smile:OH to do the housework
 I am at work and working on project work
    Watered the plants
    Knitting later

ED: Been invited to book my vaccine. Will do that asap

Hugs Ziggy, sorry for your loss <3
Intermittent sun and heavy rain here. Managed to walk the dog during a sunny bit, and also hoover through the lounge and kitchen during another one (dog outside as the hoover is one of the long list of things he doesn't like / barks at / runs away from. The latest is the rain on the new conservatory roof :# )
    I have also:
Washed my hair with my shampoo bar the seems to go on forever, and towelled it, combed it through with conditioner and left it to dry on its own. I keep thinking I ought to get it cut, but it doesn't annoy me when it is tied back, and every other way I have tried , it does one way or another.
    Wiped down the kitchen cupboards
Got pork steaks out of the freezer for dinner tonight, to go with new potatoes and salad. Good use for the salad leaves and radishes I picked yesterday.
Working this afternoon in the shop where I rent my sales unit, so I doubt whether I will get much else done!
