That’s interesting, I always thought that WiFi/broadband etc had to have a connected landline? I maybe confused, but do you mind telling who you that arrangement is with?

As above i pay BT for a landline and broadband and sport but have no phone plugged in .Email is my own domain from 1&1 predates BT contracts and others .Thousands of emails stored no why would i need to . A few are kept and some are backed up .0

Thank you everyone for discussing this with me. I have spent another couple of hours on the phone with BT and they have apparently solved the problem. They’ve given me 3 months free paper bills (inc vat!) and £50 good will gesture. My contract runs out in June, so they will let me move to a residential package or apparently I can just stay where I am on business but cost will go up.
if I stay on Business they can’t guarantee I won’t loose my email address again.
Still lots of questions to be answered, they’re calling me again in couple of days, I’ll update again after that call ...0 -

Which providers have you found the best?I used virgin.net when they first started up but they stopped supporting those customers who didn't have virgin cable when they changed to Virgin Media, I've got a bunch of old hotmail email accounts that I only use for forums and online shopping though latterly I've started using gmail accounts for such things, my last broadband ISP was BT for many years but I changed to EE broadband a couple of years ago.Which providers have I found the best? Hard to say really - none of them stick out as being particularly good or bad, they have all been perfectly adequate as far as service and reliability are concerned and it has usually been price that was the deciding factor to change. Of course, if I was an avid online gamer with a house full of kids streaming then I'd be moaning about none of them being able to provide FTTH . . . but I'm not, so I don't
