Ryanair doing it right?

Received an email last night from Ryanair saying that they had cancelled my flights out from East Midlands to Bergerac on 3rd June, and the return booking on the 10th. The cancellation email said "We are allowing customers to change their cancelled flight to another date or time on the original route or to any other route within our network. You can move your flight to any date within 14 days before or after your cancelled flight. There are no flight change fees and you do not have to pay any fare difference." I was able to be flexible, and book a flight from Liverpool to Bergerac on the 1st, and back on the 8th. Interestingly, when I was choosing my seats on check in for the original flight the plane did look VERY empty, whereas the flight out of Liverpool looked to be about 1/3 full. Fingers crossed, but I was surprised how easy it was. Car parking refunded without complaint by Holiday Extras, Car hire changed by Hertz refunding the £2.00 difference in price and dates changed on the Car Hire Excess insurance. Fingers crossed...

  • Hopefully but I doubt it holiday companies and airlines will learn from the pandemic that flexibility and ease of cancellation of bookings within a reasonable time frame of departure dates will actually be good for business.
    It's a buyer's market now and hopefully some of the greediest gougers will be so desperate for business that they'lll actually start treating their customers fairly.
    FWIW, both Easyjet and Ryanair have actually been sound with our bookings over the past year.
    Will it continue though ?
