I feel they should could give more clarification in their terms for these types of listings, the best they do is mention "Listings can be auction-style or fixed price format".

This is what concerns me, an auction with BIN is an upgraded listing which is specifically excluded. It is also not just an auction or a BIN listing.

EDIT , as I suspected, adding a BIN to an auction listing is considered an upgrade (hence the 50p charge) and your item would not therefore be eligible for the offer and you will be charged full FVFs

Balls, can't even relist now as that disqualifies the listing. Thanks for digging this out, I will be mindful when using this promotion in the future.

Relisting is fine, it’s just auto re listing that isn’t. You can end the listing, change it to either a BIN or auction and relist.

ive just relisted all 37 of my listings on one of my private accounts and all have come off of the offer of 100 which means they all qualify.

If I have something listed as auction with FVF offer, and someone messages me wanting to BIN, then what I do is:

    1. edit the listing and increase the auction price to the BIN amount agreed
    2. ask the buyer to bid
    3. once done, end the auction choosing the 'sell to highest bidder' radio button.

Note: in 3 above, I do this on the desktop. Although I think the app has the same functionality, I am not sure (you can definitely end the auction from the app but not sure it gives you the radio buttons and may just end the auction).

    Number 2.
If you add a BIN it means you have added an upgrade so your item is no longer eligible for the offer. If you end listing early to sell to highest bidder then full FVFs will be paid as ending listing early is specifically mentioned as falling outside the remit of the offer.

Hmm, doesn't that count as "Auction-style listing ended early" though? I am exactly in that situation, someone has messaged me with a price I am happy with but I can't actually edit the existing listing now as there is already a bid on it. If they message back then I'll end and relist.

Can I ask as a novice, what is your motivation for ending early?  Assuming they are going to bid otherwise, isn't it potentially depriving you of higher bids in the auction?

It's just simply that someone messaged me with a price that exceeded what I was hoping for the item, and it's likely the auction won't hit the price I've been offered (based on what other listings have ended at). Plus on the other hand the highest bidder is currently someone who is likely going to try and scam me (their feedback page is littered with non-payment comments), I reckon they're going to keep gazumping.

You don't need to do all of that.
A BIN and allowing an offer are two different things. BIN is an auction upgrade, hence the extra charge. It does not form part of most promotions. Allowing offers on auction style listings are allowed under the promotions.

I resist any items I still have during a promotional offer (resisted items still qualify).
I select 'Auction' as the listing type, and allow offers (Not BIN - just allow offers to be made).
If the buyer places an offer and you accept, it is still part of the promotion, and hence the promotional offer still applies.
I do this all the time - in fact I prefer offers to be made as its makes for a quicker sale without having to wait for the auction to end!

I set my auction starting price at the minimum I would generally accept, according to the going rate for other sales on eBay with a similar, or the same item.
if I receive an offer for the opening price I generally accept it - makes for a quicker sale.
A lot of the time you get 'chancers' who make a silly lowball offer. I'll simply reject those.
If an item is not selling and has been resisted several times I may accept a slightly lower the opening price offer.
