Do you have to wear a mask from entering the airport to exiting at your destination, or is a perspex face shield acceptable?

Last time I flew, which was the middle of last year (so things may have changed), everybody had to have a mask. I can't say I saw anything that explicitly ruled out perspex shields but we were told we had to wear a mask on several occasions. I would suggest using one of the 'blue' disposable ones or a lightweight mask - those planes can get warm and I wouldn't want to be wearing my normal heavy duty one..I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0

This is what EasyJet say on their website -
“What kind of mask should I wear?
It’s important that the masks we wear provide the best possible protection. That’s why we’re no longer allowing scarves, face visors or masks with valves.”

2 months ago to travel to amsterdam and Italy a surgical mask or FFP2 was required. I had a fabric one, they allowed me to get in the airport and do the checkin but before boarding they were asking to put "surgical masks" or no boarding allowed.0

I use one of those. Mine has a multi-layer filter behind the valve offering much more protection than the blue paper ones, scarves, face shields and many of the thin cloth ones. Even without the filter mine has at least 2 layers of cloth between my mouth and the valve (no worse than many paper or thin material masks).JamoLew said:

It also offers a lot more protection than those idiots who haven't quite worked out how to wear one and have their mask below their nose.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
You don't say when you're flying so best to keep an eye on what your airline says is necessary nearer the time, using the helpful link provided in the second reply.

Well, we were supposed to be flying on 3rd June, but that's been cancelled! The thought of wearing a mask for 3 (?) hours at the airport before, 5 hours on the plane and half an hour at destination airport don't make for a pleasant journey.

Hmm, but we have a house out there which has a maintenance issue (need to chose some new tiles) and as we've not been since late 2019, we would quite like to gocouriervanman said:Plus all the form filling / pcr tests restricted access to bars / restaurants etc locals not vaccinated.......no thanks ill wait till next year (hopefully)

I'm not surprised that visors are not considered adequate. They provide no protection for you breathing in aerosol particles or breathing them out onto others. The answer J_B, I'm afraid, is that you have to jump through the hoops required by UK regulations leaving the country, airline rules and regulations to enter your destination country.3
