Purchase property from care home?

Hi there, I hope you can help. I am looking to buy a house that I saw was derelict, not up for sale. A neighbour had told me that the proprietor had unfortunately passed away and they think there was a charge put on the house by the care home he went into. 

With all things considered and being sensitive to the matter, would I be able to contact the care home to see the status of the house? I am unfamiliar with care home charges etc but do care homes sell properties once occupants have passed on?

    The care home do not own the property. They cannot sell it.

    A "charge" is a notice of the debt secured against it - it cannot be sold without the chargeholder's permission.

    Didn't you say in the previous thread that the Land Registry entry had an accountant listed as the c/o? Wouldn't the accountant be a better first point of contact than the care home? Also, assuming the death happened recently I expect they'll be inheritance matters to conclude before the beneficiaries are ready to sell. 

    Sorry but I don't have any further advice on this, but i'm in a similar position myself and would be interested in how you get on.
