Do RBS still allow you to select a sort code?

I beg to differ, at least based on how it is positioned on the Natwest group brands web page (broken link as I'm too newDeleted User said:EarthBoy said:
Yes, it's part of the NatWest Group, but so is RBS, and Child & Co is an RBS brand and uses an RBS Sort Code. Can you apply for other RBS accounts through NatWest? If not, then I doubt if you can apply for a Child & Co account through NatWest either.davidexmachina said:I don't suppose there's a way to do this through Natwest is there (given Child & Co is part of the Natwest group)? No, Royal Bank of Scotland and National Westminster Bank are separate banks.Child and Co is a brand of Royal Bank of Scotland (like First Direct is within HSBC UK)

You're getting confused between the bank and the group. Child & Co is a brand of NatWest Group, but NatWest Group is just the holding company for several separate banks with their own banking licences, the main ones being National Westminster Bank plc and Royal Bank of Scotland plc. Child & Co is part of Royal Bank of Scotland plc (RBS), not National Westminster Bank plc (NatWest).davidexmachina said:

Not actually confused at all - just pointing out that according to that website, Child and Co is a brand in its own right under the Natwest Group, as opposed to a sub brand of the RBS brand!EarthBoy said:

All semantics anyway, would have been a bit of fun to get the card if I could do it in a few mins and without having to start up a new bank relationship - but that's obviously not possible. Maybe when I've got a few more millions to invest I'll do it through the 'correct' channels

That's like saying - Can you apply for other Halifax accounts through Lloyds Bank?0 -
Yes, I know, it's silly. It was davidexmachina who asked if there was a way to apply for Child & Co through NatWest, and my question/comment was meant to emphasise that you can't apply for one bank through another. He was getting his banks mixed up.Deleted User said:

It asked me to choose a branch when I applied for a Select current account yesterday.EarthBoy said:I understand that the current RBS website no longer lets you choose your branch when you apply for a current account. However, if you use this old link instead, it will let you select your preferred branch by address or sort code:

You need to enter sort code 15 80 00 if you want a Child & Co account. Can't find the original post any more, but thanks for this.I had an existing account at Greenock branch, but going through this form I now also have a Select Account with a Child & Co debit card.Lovely.

I've just tried to open a Select account but it didn't give me the option of choosing a sort code or branch, just allocated me to my nearest branch.

I did this 5 years ago by selecting the 15-80-00 Fleet Street sort code and I received the Child&Co card and cheque book. Statements came on 'RBS Private' headed paper.
I no longer have the account.0
