Distance selling & SIM free phone - Currys

I was looking to purchase a SIM free mobile phone from Curry's PC World. However, in the Ts and Cs on the Curry's site it basically says that once a device is used or registered, then it is no longer eligible for a return and refund under the distance selling regs. I've just had to return a device to Samsung within 14 days because it's performance was poor compared to my previous phone (incredibly poor reception with the same SIM in the same location and under the same conditions). I'm concerned that I don't want to be stuck with a device that isn't suitable for my needs if I do purchase - can anyone advise what my rights would be in this scenario?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Have you purched it or not.
You say you have just sent one back but then later you say 'if I purchased'
Your contract is with Currys, did you try there first.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Distance selling does not include using and registering .You would not register a phone if you looked at in a shop .2

If you walked into Curry's and were able to view the product, you wouldn't register the display model, so you can't do the same with one by post and return it.0
