Post office card account - changing the way we pay you letter

to be fair whether its a scam or not (and it seems not) you now know that the PO account is coming to an end so just open a bank account of your choice and inform DWP of the change of details in the way you normally would."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "1

Hi poppy,. There are a few small differences in the letter from the usual ESA ones I receive, such as it's looks like a photocopy, and my full initials are missing etc. Maybe it's just a different company dealing with the post office card account changeover. Anyway, thanks everyone for replying and il get on with changing it over tomorrow. Thanks.poppy12345 said:
In the link i provided above it says exactly the same..jj20 said:it's still weird as even the letter isn't like the usual letters I get from the dwp.0 -
The problem with the call may have been down to the OP inadvertently pressing the wrong option at some stage from the multitude of choices often given. If, on the other hand, the DWP is actually using an overseas call centre - contracted via a 3rd party or otherwise, it should not be happening. Their entire purpose is to help people in the UK find job.

I just called that number because the explanation sounded strange.jj20 said:At present I claim ESA and DLA. The telephone number is 0800 085 7133 and the address is customer service centre, cosham, post handling site b, Wolverhampton, wv99 2fj. It just kind of puzzled me why it was an automated Asian voice when I called and then asking if I want to speak to someone in English. I've never had that before when calling the dwp so I called a bit worried and hung up.
The automated message is definitely strange though. No 'thank you for calling DWP' just straight into 'If you would like to speak to someone in English, please press 1' then the message continues in a foreign language.
I'm not saying that this number isn't official but the message sounds so dodgy that I wouldn't do anything else other than hang up after hearing it.3 -
^I dialled the number too and thought exactly the same after hearing the message. There's no way I would be wanting to give bank account information and other personal information after being connected through pressing option 1. The whole set up screams "fake" and "fraud".0

I've just looked it up on the internal intranet and it looks completely normal, specifically for the PO account changeover, the Customer Service Centre dealing with it is in Cosham.
ETA I wonder if this part of the letter explains the message?Tell us how you would like us to pay you by calling us on 0800 085 7133.
Calls to 0800 numbers are free from personal mobiles and landlines.
We have many different ways we can communicate with you.
If you would like Braille, British Sign Language, a hearing loop, translations, large print, audio or something else please tell us using the phone number at the top of this letter.

Yes, this is genuine, I had to arrange for my mums pension to go into her main account - saves me going and collecting it for her! But that was some time ago now so there have been plenty of warnings.0
