Update: I bit the bullet and rang DWP DM. Nice person on the other end of the phone says they will fill out a form (I'm assuming to flag the suspected fraudulent claim) and send it across to UC who should ring me in the next 2 days. I shan't be holding my breath and shall be following up next Wednesday.

Worth noting that I wasn't on hold for anywhere near as long as I thought I'd be. All in all, the call lasted 14 mins 20.

update: Jon from the UC Glasgow office called today and, after running through some checks that we were both who we said we were, was satisfied that I didn't make the claim and has written back to DWPDM to request that the recovery is suspended until an investigation can be made. I should then hear nothing until I get a letter confirming the investigation has concluded (which will most probably be next year at the earliest given the volume of these cases).

As far as I'm concerned, I expect this to be the end of it. My experience has been much slicker than that reported in the media, so for others who see this, I would expect your experience to be as straightforward. I wonder if I'll hear back from my MP, the Secretary of State or the Guardian...
